Central, upscale B&B

Lovely B&B. Great location; central but not too touristy. Avoid private courtyard suite (Lucieu) because it’s loud. It’s off the common area and over a restaurant. Late crowd came back at 3 am for nightcap and kitchen noise caused poor nights sleep.

Wife and I spent 3 nights here after a 20-night cruise that ended in Barcelona. We took the metro from the cruise port to the Diagonal stop and walked the rest of the way to the BnB. Our room was in the "annex", above the Windsor restaurant, next to the main portion which has 5 rooms. We had a large bedroom that opened into a small additional area with views outside to the courtyard, but no balcony/veranda. The shower & bathtub were large & easy to use, and the bathroom was quite nice & clean. The BREAKFASTS were fantastic! We ate big breakfasts and then only had to do dinner. The staff quite friendly. We enjoyed our time talking with them (e.g., Vanessa who assisted us on days 1 and 3). And we enjoyed interacting with the other guests. We did arrive early on the Sunday, likely rushing the housekeeping a bit, as she forgot a sheet on our bed, but we found one in the hallway that night and put it on ourselves. We were so GLAD they let us get into our room before noon. So we could get out and explore Barcelona while knowing our room was there for us from the start. The building we were in had just 3 rooms. There is a coffee maker in the hallway. We did NOT hear noises from the other rooms. Or the street! The location is just simple blocks away from the Pedrera and the Mansion of Discord, both by Gaudi! We used the Hop On & Hop Off bus to do our non-walking exploring. But we walked all the way to the Cathedral and back multiple times along the great streets near the BnB, including Ramblas de Catalunya, Pg./Gran de Gracia, and Balmes. We ate once at the Bronzo across the street, enjoying a nice late afternoon meal in the sheltered area next to the quieter street Corsega around 4 pm. Enjoyed the food.

Acogedora Barcelona

Could not have chosen a greater location for our stay in Barcelona! Ca La Maria is close to popular sites, restaurants, transportation, and is managed by a very friendly and super accommodating staff! Guillem, who was present during our stay, demonstrated such sincerity, friendliness, warmth and service the whole time we were there! A very nice, savory breakfast spread was set out every day which met everyone's needs. Tables were set in the welcoming, spacious terrace or indoors. Great setting for just chilling, as well. :) We booked 2 rooms: the suite was spacious and met all our expectations. The Caneletas room was barely adequate for a couple. Outside the B&B, we found a very reliable, plentiful, and honest taxi service.

Ca la Maria Barcelona: A Scam

Don't. Their website badly misrepresents this property. Our room was not even at their address- it was down the block in another building. Room was not clean, polyester sheets, foul odor in the bath, drooping drapes, safe and coffee maker inoperable, no fruit at breakfast day 1, no breakfast available to us day 3, no service to fix problems, worn furnishings. Shower old, corroded, and poor. Not like their website portrays!

Room did not match price paid

The B&B is cute and cozy, but not up to standards for the price. On arrival, the staff was very sweet and helpful. Our room was in the building next door. It was fine, but the room we were in was dark and the windows did not bring in much light, especially in the bathroom. It was very clean! Slippers and robes were a nice touch. There was A/C in the room, but we had to consistently get up to turn it back on. It definitely cooled down the room, but did not keep it a stable temperature. The room itself could use a maintenance. I paid for a superior room, but compared to the room next door I peeked in, it was definitely not a superior room. If you choose to book, my recommendation is to ask which building your room is in and which room you got to make sure it matches with your booking. Breakfast was simple, but good. Pleased with the addition of cooked meats and eggs. It was refreshed regularly throughout the morning. However, there were no baked goods. You can eat in their dining room or their terrace. The terrace was beautiful and open 24/7 (not lit at night due to city regulations). It was nice, but inconvenient to go to the next building to use. They do have an honor code bar with soda, beer, and wine. Just donate to the piggy bank what you'd like and grab a glass. The money is donated. I love that idea! They do have filtered water machines (hot and cold) and coffee machines in each building. They are convenient and easy to use! However, they do not refill the coffee pods in the adjacent building very often. Overall, our stay was pleasant but for the price we paid, I had higher expectations.
